About the Potters
Pottery has played a meaningful role in my life since college, when I first sat down at the wheel—thanks to a potter named Wally who introduced me to the craft. From that moment on, I was hooked.
My dad supported my growing interest by building me a homemade kick wheel. It was an incredible gift, and I learned so much on it. I still feel the same sentimental attachment to that wheel as others do to their first car. Back then, I’d visit Marshall Pottery, ask lots of questions, and soak up as much knowledge as I could from books and magazines.
That kick wheel lasted about five years. As a young husband, I convinced Ann to make what felt like a huge investment at the time: an electric pottery wheel. I pitched it to her with, “We’ll never have to buy a gift again—I’ll just make them!” She went for it, and we saved up for the wheel together.
Since then, I’ve continued learning—through friendships with other potters, trial and error, and, of course, a fair share of YouTube videos.
I enjoy the challenge of making both functional kitchenware and decorative pieces, but when I have time to make whatever I want, I always come back to coffee cups and bowls. There are endless variations, and they’re some of my favorite forms to explore. Plus—who doesn’t love a unique, handmade mug?
Pottery brings me a deep sense of joy, and nothing makes me happier than sharing that joy with others. As a family, we feel the time is right to take what we’ve built and grow into the next phase—creating, teaching, and connecting through clay.
You may have seen us at the Farmers Market…
You can also find us and our pottery in person at the local farmers market—come by to say hello and see the latest pieces fresh from the kiln! This has been a great time for us the past several years. We have made lots of new friends and pottery with the community!
